Remember, this is a required event for all MHS Bands/Choirs students, and all are expected to follow the dress code in the bands/choirs handbook.
Invite your friends and family to watch you sing and/or play your instrument. It's going to be a GREAT concert! Concert call-times and further information to follow sometime in the next 24-48hrs. HS Band and Chorus:
Starting next week, we need to be getting into full run-through mode for most pieces. Time to stop with major fixes (notes and rhythms) and REALLY get into the nitty-gritty of the details that are going to make our concert APRIL 10 so great! Please be practicing at home, finding recordings of our pieces/songs on YouTube. Don't forget all this week's HARD WORK over the weekend! Please bring your order forms to class today and tomorrow so they can be sent in. Hope you did a LOT of fundraising for us!
All HS Chorus students preparing for S&E will work with Mrs. Spangler during class this Friday. You will then work with/perform for the class on Monday of next week. If you are not prepared, you will not be going.
All HS Band students preparing for S&E will perform for the class on Tuesday of next week. Again, if you are not prepared you will not be going. There is no excuse to not be prepared, as everyone has had music for WEEKS now, all can come in during Advisory any day to work with me or on your own or in groups, and I make myself regularly available for lessons outside the school day. I have just received the performance schedule, so please be looking for an updated bus schedule to come very soon. Solo & Ensemble is approaching QUICKLY!!!!!
IHSA is Saturday, March 2 @ Manual HS (Peoria) IESA is Saturday, March 23 @ VIT (Table Grove) All music has been handed out to participating students (for a while now...), so now you NEED to get in with Mr. Schweizer and start practicing, or you will not be going. If you have not seen Mr. Schweizer yet to get your Solo & Ensemble music, you need to do that as soon as possible, this week!
We are now starting to form groups, pick out pieces, and begin the process of preparing for Solo & Ensemble contests in March. Anyone interested should inform Mr. Schweizer, and be ready for more information coming soon!
Members of all curricular ensembles (MS Band, MS Chorus, HS Band, HS Chorus) are expected to reflect on our 12/5 concert performance and turn in the written reflection. This work should be completed in-class. For those absent on reflection days, the criterion for reflection are as follows:
#s 1 - 3: List three positives for each piece performed. #s 4 - 6: List three areas for improvement in each piece. #7: Highlight at least one positive aspect of each performing group of which you were not a part of. #8: What do we need to do as a group to better perform on future concerts. Students are expected to write in complete sentences and use musical terminology whenever possible (i.e. references to measure numbers, dynamics, articulations/diction, etc.). All journals must be completed NO LATER THAN Monday, December 17, 2012. |
